2017 Year of Desi Hip Hop ?
Even if we ignore the fact that there were major DHH releases in 2016 alone, 2017 will still K.O. it easily. With Pardhan dropping single every now and then; with underground artists like Young Desi, Guru Lahori, Mohan Singh rising high; with more and more well produced Punjabi Rap albums dropping like fire, one can clearly say that this year wont be any less than 2016.
After coming from work on 31st Dec late night, I sat down in front of the flat screen of wisdom and lies to go through the bits. What! Bohemia with Sajjad Ali ? I did not see that one coming. Few months ago I did TYAAG the social media platforms. It felt good without the shackles of facebook, the always stabbing in chest tweets and pretentious instagram shit. Anyway , the song Tamasha felt really refreshing and funny. Though the rap verse was quite limited but you don't often see this type of collaboration.

MTBK, short for Mundeya Ton BachKe , a great collab by Lazarus, Bohemia, Deep Jandu and Produced by Shaxe is paying homage to Late. Labh Janjhua after two years of his demise. This one filled with sharp bars from lazarus and bohemia filling up the gaps meant for some desi fire in it. Deep Jandu singing the hook "Neevian Tun kujh der paake rakh le" from PMC track itself. The production though sampling Beware of Boys - Punjabi MC is well done. The bass line in this one will make you buy a car to bump this one (if you dont already have one).

Mohali Messiah 2 ( Late December) : I'll put this one in 2017 because this is the Season Sikander in Toronto. Are you crazy Kahlon? You droping more Mixtapes than Bohemia Dropping solo Singles recently. Not that I'm comparing these two. You Sikander Weezy Kahlon. I liked MM2 because this is produced neatly with talent from around the world. From Byg Byrd, Sound Shikari to Andy grewal, Baajewala , Pam Ramgarhiya and more. I'm listening to this while writing this post. He gave hints for new ALBUM and another KKG mixtape for coming this year. I'll write more about MM2 and upcoming project of Kahlon in future. Meanwhile, listen KITN, Running and Denzel from this one.
So expect more Raftaar this year. Bohemia is releasing Skulls & Bones, Hopefully more KDM mixtape songs get out. I'm rooting for Power Peg with Pardhaan though. The bars are power-ful in it. The song was sung by the duo in a club and the video is on youtube teasing the fans from last few months. "..Daru ke swimming pool me mai nahata hun.." you see ? Kendrick Lamar ? Yep.
But since Bohemia is now on Clean life, this peg is only for pardhaan.
